An afternoon dip can have several causes. Look at the pattern before adding more caffeine to the symptom.
Begin with sleep
If bedtime keeps moving later while wake time stays fixed, the afternoon crash may be predictable. Track sleep opportunity and daytime sleepiness for a week.
Caffeine can temporarily mask the problem while making the next night harder.
Review lunch
A very large meal, substantial alcohol the night before or a lunch dominated by refined carbohydrate may leave some people sluggish. Try a balanced portion with protein, produce and an appropriate carbohydrate serving.
Do not respond by skipping lunch and arriving at dinner ravenous.
Move and use light
A ten-minute outdoor walk after lunch can add movement, daylight and a clear break from the screen. For many office workers, this is more useful than scrolling through the break.
- Walk outside for 10 minutes.
- Drink water with lunch.
- Keep lunch portions comfortable.
- Move caffeine earlier.
- Protect a consistent wake time.
Look for medical context
Persistent severe fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath or a major change from normal deserves medical evaluation. Energy problems are not always lifestyle problems.
For ordinary patterns, change one variable at a time so you can identify what actually helps.
